What is a Podiatrist?

A podiatrist, also known as a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), receives his/her degree from one of nine accredited 4-year Podiatric medical schools in the United States. 

In addition to schooling, he/she undergoes an extensive 3-year surgical residency training program specializing in the treatment and management of the lower leg, ankle, and foot.
